Financial Boot Camp

Wednesday October 19th, 2016

Last year’s Financial Boot Camp was held on October 6, 2015 at Weber State University. We hosted 350 high school students from multiple schools in the area for a day of financial education. Students had the opportunity to learn from real world business professionals from many different industry backgrounds who shared their experiences through fun and educational activities which helped the students understand real world finances.

The day was packed full of age relevant breakout sessions with various topics and lesson plans which were geared towards teaching the various aspects of finances such as: saving, budgeting, spending, investing, taxes, and more!

The importance of financial education:

When bills pile up, the mortgage rate adjusts, the credit card balances grow, or you’re laid off, these things can be down right unbearable. Financial problems can negatively affect other aspects of our lives including health, relationships, your job, and more. Making sure your finances are in order is important so you have more energy for the important things in life.

2016 Financial Bootcamp Highlights

We had a blast at the Financial Boot Camp. I was amazed at the information that was available to our students. The students that attended had nothing but great things to say about it. Our students loved the speakers and the positive encouragement they gave them. The thing that stood out to them was that they can succeed in their life if they choose too. I am definitely going to this event in the future. Thank you so much for the time you put into this event.

I learned you need to change if you don’t like where you’re headed. Your life is in your hands.

I learned that having a healthy lifestyle can help you be successful in your career.

Something that I liked about the Bootcamp is how much they enforced positivity and working hard. We can do anything even if it’s never been done before. We are able to accomplish anything we set our minds too.
